We set standards to meet your needs and expectations when receiving a service from us. We want you to know what to expect. We are committed to creating an environment where everyone is treated with dignity and respect at all times.

Monday – Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm
General Communication and Office Coverage Expectations
Telephone Inquiries:
- Calls will be answered promptly or before the 3rd ring. The best line to call our main phone number at 269-673-0205, ext. 2649.
- When voicemail is necessary or should a customer prefer to leave a voice-mail message, county personnel will return the call no later than one business day. Every effort will be made to return calls the same business day.
- When callers reach a department that is unable to assist them with their inquiry, every effort will be made by the person that answered the call to get the caller to the correct location for their inquiry to be addressed.
Email/Website Inquiries:
- All e-mail and/or website inquiries will be acknowledged within two business days. If an e-mail request is expected to take longer than two business days, the acknowledgement will provide a date when the requested information will be available or provide a status update.
- If the individual being contacted is out of the office, an automated email notification will be sent to the customer. This notification will include the individual’s return to work date and an alternate contact.
Front Desk (in person) Inquiries:
- Personnel will be available in the building at the front desk to respond to your inquiry.
- Personnel will listen carefully to your request and take the necessary action to assist you.
- Customers will be informed of the normal process time for their inquiry, when they can expect completion and any delays that may arise in the process.
Human Services Delivery Standards
Performance Management Continuum Services:
- Verification of Employment
- Expect up to a 7 business day processing timeframe from receipt of the request.
Recruitment Services:

- Status of Job Application
- Applications can take up to four weeks to be reviewed. If not selected, an email will be sent notifying applicant of their status.
- Interview and Testing
- Applicants will be notified of their status or next steps within one week following the completion of interviews or testing.
- Conditional Offer of Employment
- Offers are typically extended via email (some maybe be over the phone then followed up with an email), once an applicants has accepted a conditional offer of employment, HR will contact the applicant within one business day to follow-up and go over next steps including any pre-employment testing requirements. Scheduling of testing will occur within one to two business days (as some locations are by appointment only). A start date will be scheduled based on the departments training schedule and in conjunction with any notice the applicant must give to a current place of employment.
