Burial_FoldedFlagA Burial allowance of $300 may be available to support the costs of the funeral for a veteran with limited assets at time of death.  This benefit will be paid directly to the funeral home unless a receipt is provided as proof that the expenses have been paid in full by the individual applying for the benefit.

To apply for this benefit, please contact our office to schedule an appointment (either a phone appointment, via teleconference, or at our office according to your preference). You will need the following documentation:

  • Marriage license or proof of relationship to veteran
  • Veteran’s Death Certificate
  • Veteran’s Discharge paper (DD214)
Additionally, the Veteran’s Administration provides the following benefits to surviving spouse of a veteran who was discharged under conditions other than dishonorable:
  • VA Burial Allowance*
  • Presidential Memorial Certificates
  • Burial flags
  • Headstones/Grave Markers
  • Military funeral in a National or State Cemetery
