Freedom of Information Act

The public may submit a written request for public records. Allegan County has designated FOIA Coordinators and a Policy in which governs processes and procedures for requests. A request must be made in writing and provided to the FOIA coordinator of the public body. Something to keep in mind is that a government agency may charge a fee for the necessary copying of a public record for inspection or providing a copy of a public record to a requestor. Drain Office FOIA Statement Policy
There are Resolutions on some of the Intercounty Drains (with other Counties) that state which County will act as the FOIA Coordinator for that Drainage District (usually voted the County that is the Treasurer or largest drainage district). In this situation, the Allegan County Drain Office can assist by providing the appropriate FOIA Coordinator to contact. If you need guidance on who to contact, email: Drain@allegancounty.org.
