We set standards to meet your needs and expectations when receiving a service from us. We want you to know what to expect. We are committed to creating an environment where everyone is treated with dignity and respect at all times.

Parks, Recreation and Tourism Hours of Operation

Parks Administrative Office Hours: Monday - Friday 8:00am  to 5:00pm

Day Use Parks (Bysterveld Park, Dumont Lake Park & Watercraft Launch, Gun Lake Park & Watercraft Launch, Littlejohn Lake Park, New Richmond Park & Watercraft Launch, West Side Park)

  • Open year round but only maintained on a daily basis and restrooms open from May 1 – September 3
  • Park Hours:
    • May 1 - September 30:  7:00am - 9:30pm
    • October  1 - April 30:  8:00am-8:00pm
  • Campgrounds (Silver Creek Campground, Ely Lake Campground)
    • Open year round but only maintained on a daily basis and restrooms open from April 15 – November 15
    • Campground Hours:
      • Check Out:  3:00pm
      • Unregistered Campers:  Unregistered campers are not allowed in campground from 10:00 PM to 7:00 AM.

Parks, Recreation and Tourism General Communication and Office Coverage Expectations

Telephone Inquiries:

  1. Calls will be answered promptly as possible. The best line to call is the main Parks, Recreation and Tourism–269-686-9088
  2. When voicemail is necessary or should a customer prefer to leave a voice-mail message, county personnel will return the call no later than one business day. Every effort will be made to return calls the same business day.
  3. When callers reach a department that is unable to assist them with their inquiry, every effort will be made by the person that answered the call to get the caller to the correct location for their inquiry to be addressed.

Email/Website Inquiries:

  1. All e-mail and/or website inquiries will be acknowledged within two business days. If an e-mail request is expected to take longer than two business days, the acknowledgement will provide a date when the requested information will be available or provide a status update.
  2. If the individual being contacted is out of the office, an automated email notification will be sent to the customer. This notification will include the individual’s return to work date and an alternate contact.

Front Desk (in person) Inquiries:

  1. Personnel will be available in the building at the front desk to respond to your inquiry.
  2. Personnel will listen carefully to your request and take the necessary action to assist you.
  3. Customers will be informed of the normal process time for their inquiry, when they can expect completion and any delays that may arise in the process.

Parks, Recreation and Tourism Delivery Standards

  1. Park Administration
    1. Park Reservation (pavilion or campsite)
      1. If you are making a reservation online through our Reserve America reservation program/website your request will be processed immediately
      2. Phone/office reservations are completed with a county representative Monday – Friday 8am to 5pm.

         

    2. Season Pass Request
      1. Equestrian Trails
        1. Online
          1. If you are purchasing your season pass online you can expect that the season pass sticker, which will need to be adhered in a visible location from the outside, on the inside of your windshield, will be mailed out within 2 business days from received inquiry.
          2. You can print your receipt and place that on your dash board for immediate use until season pass sticker arrives.
        2. In Office
          1. If you are purchasing your season in the office, you can expect that your request will be processed and completed immediately. You will be able to take the season pass sticker, which will need to be adhered in a visible location from the outside, on the inside of your windshield.
        3. At the Park/Campground from Park Ranger
          1. If you are purchasing your season at the park, you can expect that your request will be processed and completed immediately. You will be able to take the season pass sticker, which will need to be adhered in a visible location from the outside, on the inside of your windshield.

             

      2. Watercraft Launch (Dumont Lake/New Richmond Park)
        1. Online
          1. If you are purchasing your season pass online you can expect that the season pass sticker, which will need to be adhered in a visible location from the outside, on the inside of your windshield, will be mailed out within 2 business days from received inquiry.
          2. You can print your receipt and place that on your dash board for immediate use until season pass sticker arrives.
        2. In Office

      3. Watercraft Launch (Gun Lake Park)
        1. Online
          1. 1st time Season Pass Purchasers
            1. If you are purchasing your season pass online, you can expect that the season pass sticker, which will need to be adhered in a visible location from the outside, on the inside of your windshield and new gate card will be mailed out within 2 business days from received inquiry.
          2. Returning Season Pass Purchasers
            1. If you are purchasing your season pass online you can expect that the season pass sticker, which will need to be adhered in a visible location from the outside, on the inside of your windshield will be mailed out within 2 business days from received inquiry.
            2. You can expect that your gate card will be reactivated within 2-3 business days
        2. In Office
          1. 1st time Season Pass Purchasers
            1. If you are purchasing your season in the office, you can expect that your request will be processed and completed immediately. You will be able to take the season pass sticker, which will need to be adhered in a visible location from the outside, on the inside of your windshield.
            2. You card is activated and ready to go.
          2. Returning Season Pass Purchasers
            1. If you are purchasing your season in the office, you can expect that your request will be processed immediately. You will be able to take the season pass sticker, which will need to be adhered in a visible location from the outside, on the inside of your windshield.
            2. You card will need to be activated at the machine which will be completed within 2-3 business days from received inquiry.

               

        3. At the Park/Campground from Park Ranger
          1. 1st time Season Pass Purchasers
            1. If you are purchasing your season in the park, you can expect that your request will be processed and completed immediately. You will be able to take the season pass sticker, which will need to be adhered in a visible location from the outside, on the inside of your windshield.
            2. Your card will be mailed to you within 2-3 business days.
          2. Returning Season Pass Purchasers
            1. If you are purchasing your season in the park, you can expect that your request will be processed and completed immediately. You will be able to take the season pass sticker, which will need to be adhered in a visible location from the outside, on the inside of your windshield.
            2. If you are at Gun Lake Park, The Ranger will go over to the machine and activate your card immediately.
            3. If you are at any other park, your card will be mailed to you within 2-3 business days.

               

    3. Special Event Request
      1. If you have submitted a special event (application) request the process to begin approving your application will begin 2 business days.
        1. If additional/missing information and/or questions about the event occur the Parks Manager will contact you via email and/or phone to gain that additional/missing information
      2. The approve process is complete within 2 business days of receiving all the information needed to make the approval unless it needs to go to the Parks Advisory Board for additional feedback.
        1. The Parks Advisory Board meet the first Tuesday of the month.

           

  2. Tourism
    1. Visitor’s Guide/Area informational Guides/Pamphlets
      1. If you need information (paper form) about Allegan County or requesting a visitor’s guide you can expect that it will be mailed out within 2 business days from received inquiry
