We set standards to meet your needs and expectations when receiving a service from us. We want you to know what to expect. We are committed to creating an environment where everyone is treated with dignity and respect at all times.
Transportation Hours of Operation
Office Hours: Monday – Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm
Dispatch Hours: Monday – Friday, 5:00am-5:30pm
Transportation General Communication and Office Coverage Expectations
Telephone Inquiries:
- Calls will be answered promptly or before the 3rd ring. The best line to call is the main Transportation line 269-673-4229.
- When voicemail is necessary or should a customer prefer to leave a voice-mail message, county personnel will return the call no later than one business day. Every effort will be made to return calls the same business day.
- When callers reach a department that is unable to assist them with their inquiry, every effort will be made by the person that answered the call to get the caller to the correct location for their inquiry to be addressed.
Email/Website Inquiries:
- All e-mail and/or website inquiries will be acknowledged within two business days. If an e-mail request is expected to take longer than two business days, the acknowledgement will provide a date when the requested information will be available or provide a status update. Please send inquiries to Transportation@allegancounty.org
- If the individual being contacted is out of the office, an automated email notification will be sent to the customer. This notification will include the individual’s return to work date and an alternate contact.
Front Desk (in person) Inquiries:
- Personnel will be available in the building at the front desk to respond to your inquiry.
- Personnel will listen carefully to your request and take the necessary action to assist you.
- Customers will be informed of the normal process time for their inquiry, when they can expect completion and any delays that may arise in the process.
Transportation Delivery Standards
Public Transit Services
When ride requests are received by noon (12PM) one business day in advance, every effort will be made to schedule the ride within existing routes. Pick up times (bus arrival) are available after 4:00pm.
Senior and Disability Volunteer Driver Program
When ride requests are received, within 3 business days, every effort will be made to schedule the ride with either an available volunteer driver or an accessible public transit vehicle.
Eligible customers must be 60 years or older, or a person with a disability, and reside in Allegan County.
Ride request will be added to the schedule and passengers can expect a call from our office two business days prior to the ride request with information pertaining to their request.
When the trip is scheduled with a public transit vehicle, passenger must call office by noon (12PM) one business day in advance prior to the ride, and call after 4:00pm, to find out pick up time .
Transportation is available to medical, legal and nutritional appointments, grocery shopping and errands.
