Genealogy
The following records are available for research in the Allegan County Clerk's Office:
- Birth Records: 1867 to present
- Death Records: 1867 to present
- Marriage Records: 1835 to present
Note: Anyone may obtain a copy of a birth record more than 110 years old. If the desired record is less than 110 years old and the individual is deceased, an heir may obtain certified copies by providing a copy of the death certificate along with proof of lineage. Birth indexes are not open to the public. Staff will assist in birth searches as time permits.
Due to the physical condition of the vital records, the Allegan County Clerk's Office prohibits the direct review of all vital records (MCL 33.2895, Administrative Rule R325.3234, Subrule 4).
Death and Marriage records are available to be searched online - Go to the Vital Records Home Page - there is a search function at the bottom to view our records. If there is a record you would like more information on send us a request through the mail or email.

- We will strive to fill your request as quickly as possible. Depending upon the work volume at the time the request is received, it may take a couple of days to perform the search and respond to you.
