Home MenuMichigan Rx Card
Allegan County is proud to offer all residents access to a FREE DISCOUNT RX CARD. Simply download and print a free card below to receive savings of up to 75% prescriptions at pharmacies around the country. All prescriptions processed through the program are completely confidential. Each person in a family will need their own card. Present this card to a pharmacist and provide your telephone number. If you do not have a telephone number, call 1-800-321-6744 to receive a Unique ID number. There are no income or age restrictions. There is no expiration date for the card. The card can be used as your primary prescription plan or may be used on prescriptions not covered by your insurance plan. This program has "lowest price" logic to guarantee that you get the best price on your prescriptions. You pay the lower of a discount off the average wholesale price, discount off the maximum allowable cost, or pharmacy promotional retail price. Other discounts are listed on the card when you sign up below. Enter your name and e-mail below and the system will generate a printable membership card for you. If you have no email address, enter none in this field. You may create as many cards as you need. This card is pre-activated and can be used immediately.
How to Use the Card
To use the card, check to see if your pharmacy accepts the card. Most major chain pharmacies accept the card. Call your pharmacy for the most accurate information, or you can use the pharmacy finder at UNA Rx Card. There are over 2,000 participating pharmacies state-wide. When you submit your prescription to be filled or are requesting a prescription refill, tell the pharmacist you want to use the Michigan Rx Card. They may ask for the Rx Bin # listed on your card or you may need to show your card prior to the prescription being filled. The discount will be applied.
The amount that the card saves you varies. Ask the pharmacist what the cash cost is, the cost with the discount card, and the cost with any insurance you might have. The card may be used in place of prescription insurance but not with the prescription insurance. Average savings are 35% off the cost of the drug. You can also go to UNA Rx Card. and click on medication pricing.
The Allegan County Health Department does not determine the discount amounts, participating pharmacies, included drugs or products. The department is not responsible for any changes in the discount card program that may occur. Allegan County does not endorse any third party organizations to provide any products or services.
A common question we find is “How will this help me if I have the Medicare Part D prescription program?” If you enter the “donut hole” during the year, this discount card may provide your prescriptions at a reduced cost. If you use the discount card, it will not give you credit to get through the “donut hole”. You will have to determine if using the discount card will help in your particular situation. For more information on how the card and Medicare Part D work, call United Networks of America at 1-877-321-6755.
